本书以关注、探讨我国仲裁制度建设中的重大理论和实务问题为宗旨，包含国内外法律及仲裁领域专家关于仲裁案件的主要观点及论述，分为“域外撷英”、“专论”、“仲裁讲坛”、“专题研讨”、“比较研究”、“调解专栏”、“仲裁实务”、“案例分析”、“办案札记”等专题内容。

北京仲裁委员会(简称北仲，英文缩写BAC)于1995年9月28日在北京成立，是依据《中华人民共和国仲裁法》规定设立以仲裁的方式，独立、公正、高效地解决平等主体的公民、法人和其他组织之间发生的合同纠纷和其他财产权益纠纷的常设仲裁机构。
